Mulhouse, Alsace, was an important 19th-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. This design features undulating vertical strips of overlapping scales rendered with stipples of dark reddish-brown color over a light tan base separated by undulating ribbons of light tan color with red outlines and groups of four pearls colored with white.
